We have added June 10, 2018 as the day of our bike ride this year. We have changed the Scary Monster Ride to be a scenic loop ride that starts and ends at the Mendocino College. We are keeping the Hairy Ride the same as last year.
Good news! The Mendocino County road department is making good progress on fixing the slide on Orr Springs Road. They're installing a one lane bridge that should be finished in the next few weeks. It's looking like there should be no problems running the Mendocino Monster this year!

The recent rains have caused a major slide taking out this section of Orr Springs Road. This is the main road we use for our Scary and Hairy Monster rides. We've talked with the Mendocino County Road folks (Howard Dashiell) and he's thinking they may be able to get a temporary bridge in place in the next few weeks. This would be a one way bridge with a stop sign on either side. We're hopeful this happens and if so, our ride can continue this year. If something goes awry we might have to cancel our event. We'll try to post updates as we get them, and we will certainly offer refunds if necessary. But at this moment we're still planning to continue the Mendocino Monster.

The date for the 2017 Mendocino Monster will be Sunday, May 21, 2017. We're not planning any major changes to the ride for this next year. It should be another epic event. Come join us! We'll try to get the online registration open fairly soon.

There are three significant cycling events in Mendocino County. The Rotary Club of Ukiah’s Mendocino Monster, the South Ukiah Rotary’s triathlon and the Boys & Girls Club’s Harvest Ride. All three of these events are beginning to work together to provide a prize for individuals who complete the harder sections of each of these events. In our case, the ride to complete will be the Scary Monster 100 mile ride.
The other portions will be the full individual triathlon in September and the longest Harvest Ride, also in September. We are planning to have a printed coffee mug as a prize for riders that complete all three events.
