Q. How far and how high?

A. You get to set your own goals...

  • Merry Monster: 100 miles between May 16, 2022 and June 12, 2022

    • Consider challenging yourself to accumulate 1,500 feet of elevation gain

  • Hairy Monster: 250 miles between May 16, 2022 and June 12, 2022

    • Consider challenging yourself to accumulate 10,000 feet of elevation gain

  • Scary Monster: 500 miles between May 16, 2022 and June 12, 2022

    • Consider challenging yourself to accumulate 25,000 feet of elevation gain

Q. What equipment and locations can I use for the virtual rides?

A. You can ride on any of your current bicycles at any location you wish. You can also ride on a stationary bicycle. You just need to get Strava to record your rides or enter them into Strava manually.


Q. Is there a limit on registrations?

A. Not for the virtual rides - we will limit the Live Fun Ride and barbecue to around 250 participants.

We have not currently set an upper limit on virtual riders. That could change if we find things are becoming unwieldy.


Q. What is the last day that registration will be allowed?

A. May 29, 2022 will be the last day that registration is allowed for the virtual rides. The Live Fun Ride will allow registration up until the event on June 12th,


Q. How do I join the Mendocino Monster private Strava club?

A. Here’s the rundown:

After paying for your entry fee, you’ll be sent an invitation link that allows you to join the general Mendocino Monster Strava Club. You can hobnob with other participants there until May 16th. On May 16th we’ll ask you to join one of three Clubs depending on how many miles you are attempting to ride before June 12th:

  • Merry Mendocino Monster Club – 100 miles

  • Hairy Mendocino Monster Club – 250 miles

  • Scary Mendocino Monster Club – 500 miles



Q. Who is this ride for?

A. It is for EVERYBODY


Q. Is there a minimum or maximum age limit?

A. No

But all participants must be aware of their individual limitations.


Q. Are there any discounts for children?

A. Children 12 and under may ride in the Live Fun Ride for free. Barbecue tickets are available for a reduced price for children 12 and under.


Q. When does the Live Fun Ride start and where is the start and end location?

A. The Live Fun Ride starts at 10:00 AM at the Mendocino County Office of Education at 2240 Old River Rd, Ukiah, CA 95482. It is an out and back route on Old River Road heading south towards Hopland. There will be a turn around location with a rest stop, although you can turn around earlier if you wish. The total distance is approximately 24 miles total for the out and back route.

 

Q. Can I get a refund?

A. No

We regret that all registrations are final and non-refundable. But you can be proud that your registration fees will be used for youth scholarships and other good deeds performed by the Rotary Club of Ukiah.


Q. Where the heck is Ukiah?

A:

Ukiah is in Mendocino County in northern California. We are just 2 hours from San Francisco, 2.5 hours from Sacramento and 7 hours from Los Angeles.
