Experience a beautiful and challenging ride with views of vineyards, grasslands, redwoods and the Pacific Ocean in Mendocino County, California.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we’ve decided to do a virtual Mendocino Monster in 2021. We will post details and links for how to register on this website on March 8, 2021. Scary Monster
The Scary Monster route is an amazing journey taking you all the way from Mendocino College to the coast and back. This ride will take you over quiet country roads and includes very challenging ridge top climbs with stunning panoramas of Mendocino County. You will see beautiful redwood groves, pastoral farmland, and Pacific Ocean vistas.
This route is 96.9 miles (155.9 kilometers) long and includes 10,320 feet of climbing.
Hairy Monster
The Hairy Monster route follows the same route as the Scary Monster, with a start and end at Mendocino College, but turns around at the quaint town of Comptche. This ride will take you over quiet country roads and also includes very challenging ridge top climbs with stunning panoramas of Mendocino County. You will see beautiful redwood groves and pastoral farmland vistas.
This route is a metric century 62.0 miles (100 kilometers) and includes 8,150 feet of climbing.
Merry Monster
The Merry Monster also starts and ends at Mendocino College. It heads south through Ukiah and follows Old River Road heading towards Hopland, with a rest stop near Hopland. It then returns back on Old River Road and finishes at Mendocino College.
This is a beautiful ride 39.4 miles (63.4 kilometers) with wonderful vineyard views and 834 feet of climbing.
